Colt the Courageous

Look at this handsome young man. He loves Pokémon

On February 19th of this year, we took Colt to Urgent Care suspecting he might have caught a typical bug from school. Urgent Care wasn’t able to give us definitive answers and transferred us to the local Emergency Room. There, he tested positive for RSV, but doctors noticed something alarming in his bloodwork and immediately transferred us to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. That same day, Colt was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He had a large cancerous mass pushing against his heart and lungs—it was caught just in time. Colt spent three days in the PICU being treated for RSV while immediately starting chemotherapy. Then, on March 25th—at the end of his Induction Phase—we received the call we’d been praying for: Colt was officially in remission Colt is autistic, 7 years old, and just started first grade. He loves Sleep Token, Halloween, pumpkins, gardening, trees, and absolutely anything to do with the outdoors. He truly is the strongest person we know.
